“As we are in a changing world, Bonaire needs to assure our guests that we are a safe destination,” says Delfins' general manager, David Rietveld. “As a resort, we need to adapt and step up our cleanliness. Disinfection is going to be the next thing in the resorts and hotels. Delfins will of course take the lead, together with other resorts here on Bonaire, in finding innovative ways to clean and disinfect rooms and public spaces.”

First of all, we hope you and your loved ones are in good health and looking forward to your next stay with us. To ensure a safe stay at Delfins Beach Resort, we introduced new standard operational procedures in line with the COVID-19 prevention plans. Our team adapted to new protocols based on research and consults with experts in the field of public health and safety, and followed the guidelines outlined by Bonaire’s Health Department.

  • General Health & Safety Procedure

    Our number one priority is the well-being, health, and safety of our guests and team. Here’s an overview of the main steps we have taken to guarantee a safe stay with us. Management will make sure all new operating procedures are communicated and monitored and will ensure compliance throughout all departments;


    • Social distancing will be enforced, meaning all team members and hotel guests always keep 6 feet or 1.5 meters apart from each other. Hotel employees have been instructed to refrain from physical contact with guests and each other (i.e. handshakes, hugs); 
    • Hand sanitizer stations will be placed in all public areas including staff areas;
    • All employees will be provided with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) if necessary; 
    • All employees had to follow a COVID-19 safety/cleaning training; 
    • All employees must wash or sanitize their hands after any of the following activities: using the restroom, sneezing, touching their face, cleaning, eating, smoking, drinking, accepting items from guests, taking a break, and before a shift and throughout the shift as needed; 
    • Signage has been posted throughout the resort and the back of the house to maintain heightened awareness amongst our team members and guests. To remind everyone of social distancing rules, proper hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette and avoidance of face touching; 
    • Employees are instructed to stay home if they do not feel well and are instructed to contact a manager if they notice a coworker or guest displaying symptoms or complaining of a cough, fever, shortness of breath, chills, sore throat or other known symptoms of COVID-19; 
    • Suspected cases will be reported immediately to the local authorities; 
    • Designated clean team & cleaning protocol manager;
    • High touch point areas will be more frequently and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected;
    • All public areas will be checked, cleaned and disinfected more frequently; 
    • We will only make use of authorized taxi and tour busses, to ensure sanitation and social distancing protocols are in place;
    • Pool and beach chairs will be set up strategically in accordance with social distancing rules;
    • Only one couple or family will be allowed on the elevator at a time
  • Front Office & Luggage

    Smiles, friendly faces and positive vibes will remain part of the warm welcome you will receive from us upon arrival. To guarantee your health we have also taken the following steps: 

    • The lobby, front desk, furniture and equipment will be continuously cleaned
    • Hand sanitizer stations will be placed in the lobby; 
    • To prevent queuing at the front desk upon arrival you will be asked to take place in the lobby and one person per party will be asked to come inside the front desk area to proceed with the check in procedure; 
    • All seats in the lobby will be placed 1.5 meters / 6 feet apart
    • Upon check in guests will be provided with a telephone number so they can reach our tours & rental agent. This will result in less physical contact but will maintain service standards. Of course, our guests can also reach the front desk by dialing ‘0’ from their room.

    Delfins Beach Resort has always ranked high on our housekeeping and laundry service, 4/5 on TripAdvisor and 4.3/5 on Expedia. To ensure this standard in the “new normal” we have taken the following steps: 


    • All windows will be open to air out the room while cleaning
    • Housekeeping staff will use approved disinfectant products and proven sanitizing methods; 
    • Clean and dirty linen will only be handled when using latex gloves
    • Disinfectant washing detergent will be used
  • Restaurant & Bars

    As you can expect from a restaurant like ours hygiene is also on top of their minds. We have taken the following steps to ensure you can have a safe dining experience: 

    • Tables and seats will have a minimum space of 1.5 meters/ 6 feet apart; 
    • We will allow not more then 40 guests at the same time in the restaurant or bar; 
    • Employees will disinfect their hands and wrists frequently; 
    • Guests who enter the restaurant, disinfect their hands;
    • All tables and chairs are cleaned and disinfected in between seating; 
    • Hard copy menus will be cleaned and disinfected after every use; 
    • We will work with timeslots with a limited number of guests per time slot to avoid queuing; 
    • Condiments will be provided in individual sanitized containers
    • Single use sanitizer sachets are provided for each guest; 
    • Cutlery will be disinfected before provided to the guest; 
    • As little as possible items will be placed on guest tables to allow for effective disinfection in between each guest, including condiments, silverware, glassware napkins etc. 
    • We will temporarily suspend table preparations as they are not possible within the current social distancing regulations; 
    • We will encourage digital payment
    • Pin terminals will be disinfected after every use.
